CHICAGO – Health law and litigation attorney, Michael V. Favia, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Institute of Medicine (“IOMC”) of Chicago on June 5, 2014. Favia will serve the board and the IOMC to build new programs and services to support the public health needs of IOMC members and the Chicago area.

“For nearly 100 years, the Institute of Medicine of Chicago (IOMC) has made significant contributions to the practice of medicine and the business of healthcare. As a uniquely multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary organization, IOMC provides an independent, neutral forum for the Chicago region’s health leaders to convene, collaborate, and contribute to the health of the city.”

On the IOMC Board of Directors, Favia will assist in helping develop programs to increase awareness and activity among its members. Education and networking programs help members learn the latest healthcare news and information about upcoming events featuring speakers and collaborative workshops.

The increase in the use of new technologies to deliver medical services, such as mobile medicine, also called telemedicine, causes the health industry to review and adopt appropriate policies to adapt new technologies in accordance with existing rules and policies, and in the best interest of public health.

Favia has more than 25 years of experience in health law and litigation and works in conjunction with a team of litigators, experts and investigators to advise and represent clients. He is experienced working on both sides of professional licensing matters, the prosecution and defense. He is a former Assistant Illinois Attorney General and Chief Prosecutor for the Illinois Dept. of Professional Regulation (“IDPR”), now known as the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (“IDFPR”).

Favia also owns a professional licensing consulting company where he and affiliated former prosecutors, investigators and professional licensing board members assist licensed professionals in their business, regulatory and IDFPR related matters.
